Michael has been drawing and painting all his life. Largely self-taught, and with the encouragement of his artist parents, he has surrounded himself with quality art. His oil paintings are in the style of impressionism.  He draws much of his inspiration from his parents and classical artists such as Winslow Homer, Singer Sargent, Degas, Joaquin Sorolla, Andrew Wyeth and Richard Schmid to name a few.

Having lived much of his adult life in Charleston, South Carolina with exposure to several exceptional art galleries, he has developed a deep appreciation for fine art. His subject matter is varied but often of natural scenes, reflective water scenes and places discovered through hiking and biking in the wilderness. He also enjoys the challenge of figurative and portraiture work to achieve the likeness and uniqueness of an individual. He and his wife enjoy traveling, particularly to the National Parks to obtain subject matter for some of his works. He has been featured in local galleries near his home in the Carolinas and juried art shows throughout the United States
