Terry Beard was born in Toronto, and lived in Ireland and Uganda as a child, before attending Art College in the UK. Terry studied textile design at West Surrey College of Art and Design, gaining a B.A.(Hons) before attending City of Birmingham Polytechnic where she gained an M.A. in Textile Design.  For several years she worked as a freelance textile designer and illustrator, before concentrating on the development of my own work.

Terry's technique involves utilizing acrylics, mono-printing, and collage. Her work combines elements representational landscapes along with abstract studies of light, particular color combination techniques and focal mark-making. The results are complex, contemplative compositions that evoke strong sentiments about place, environment, and belonging.
